Gamification has been incorporated into mathematics education as a strategy to promote participation and learning, although its contribution to mathematical reasoning among students with learning difficulties requires further clarification. This study analyzed its impact on Upper Basic Education students through a qualitative, descriptive, and analytical documentary review supported by PRISMA 2020; of 79 identified documents, 17 studies published between 2021 and 2026 were included in the final matrix. The evidence showed favorable results in problem solving, strategy exploration, argumentation, motivation, persistence, and mathematical performance, although outcomes varied according to design, population, and type of intervention. It is concluded that gamification may support mathematical reasoning when it incorporates graduated challenges, feedback, and opportunities for revision; however, few studies simultaneously address Upper Basic Education, learning difficulties, and mathematical reasoning.
