Abstract

The study examines the strategic role of renewable energies in mitigating climate change by reducing the carbon footprint. Through a systematic review of scientific literature indexed between 2015 and 2024, technologies, political contexts and obstacles affecting their implementation were identified. It was evidenced that solar photovoltaic and wind energy are the most efficient in reducing CO₂ emissions, both for their operational performance and low life-cycle emissions. However, global adoption faces technical barriers, such as intermittency and infrastructure obsolescence, and economic barriers, such as high upfront costs and fossil fuel subsidies. The analysis highlights the importance of coherent energy policies, stable regulatory frameworks and innovative financing mechanisms, as well as the need for a just transition that ensures social equity. The study provides inputs for sustainable and contextualized energy decisions.
