Occupational exposure to noise represents a significant risk to the health and work performance of industrial maintenance personnel, particularly when hearing protectors are not used consistently. The aim of this study is to analyze the consequences and factors associated with the non-use of hearing protection among maintenance workers at the company Llori Llerena Cuatroele S.A. A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study is conducted using two Likert-type questionnaires designed to assess the level of hearing protector use, associated individual and organizational factors, and perceived consequences on hearing health, job performance, and safety. The results reveal irregular use of hearing protectors, influenced by individual barriers and operational conditions, as well as the presence of auditory discomfort and moderate performance impairments. It is concluded that availability and awareness alone do not ensure sustained preventive behaviors, highlighting the need to strengthen comprehensive noise risk prevention strategies.
