This study analyzes the systemic impact of corruption in public procurement processes through a literature review of research published between 2015 and 2024. Through a documentary and comparative approach, we examine the main effects of corruption on the efficiency of government spending, the increase in contractual costs and the reduction in the quality of goods and services acquired. It also identifies the institutional conditions that facilitate these practices, such as weak regulatory frameworks, lack of transparency, and ineffective control and sanction mechanisms. The findings show that corruption is not only an ethical failure, but also a structural phenomenon that compromises the legitimacy of the state and sustainable development. It is concluded that overcoming this problem requires comprehensive reforms aimed at strengthening the legal, institutional and cultural aspects of public integrity.
