Abstract

Literacy in the early school years is an essential basis for comprehensive learning and educational equity. This study, with a qualitative approach and exploratory design, critically analyzes pedagogical strategies aimed at improving reading fluency and comprehension through a literature review of scientific sources indexed between 2010 and 2024. Interventions such as repeated reading, reading modeling, reading theater, use of digital platforms, explicit teaching of metacognitive strategies and activation of prior knowledge were identified. The results show that these practices, when applied systematically and with contextual appropriateness, enhance both reading automaticity and deep comprehension of the text. The study concludes that the strengthening of reading competence requires comprehensive approaches, sustained practices, specialized teacher training and favorable institutional conditions that guarantee an equitable and effective literacy environment.
