The importance of scientific tourism in academic education

Abstract

This article analyzes scientific tourism as an innovative educational strategy that strengthens the link between theory and practice through experiences in real environments of scientific production and dissemination. Through a qualitative literature review of recent studies, its main benefits are identified: it stimulates hands-on learning, awakens scientific curiosity and develops relevant transversal competencies in academic training. However, its implementation faces obstacles such as lack of resources, poor infrastructure and limited teacher training. To overcome these barriers, strategies such as the integration of scientific tourism in curricular projects, the creation of inter-institutional alliances and the use of contextualized evaluation systems are proposed. The study concludes that this educational modality should not be considered a complementary activity, but a transformative pedagogical tool capable of improving the quality and relevance of education in contemporary contexts.
