The lack of socioemotional competencies in adolescents in secondary education represents a growing problem in the educational field, as it has a negative impact on their academic performance, emotional well-being and school coexistence. Despite their relevance, these skills are still not systematically integrated into many school curricula, which limits the comprehensive education of students. This study adopts an exploratory qualitative approach through a systematic literature review of research published between 2015 and 2024 in databases such as Scopus and Web of Science. The findings indicate that the development of competencies such as self-regulation, empathy and emotional awareness significantly improves concentration, motivation and academic resilience, in addition to reducing problems such as anxiety, aggression and social isolation. It is concluded that incorporating these skills in a transversal and contextualized manner in secondary education is fundamental to guarantee a balanced and humanistic education, capable of responding to the challenges of adolescent development.
